U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, addressed several issues facing her constituents in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) between October 11 and October 12, 2025.
On October 11, Pettersen condemned an antisemitic incident in Jefferson County, Colorado: “Today, our community woke up to a vile symbol of antisemitic hate that has no place in Jeffco, Colorado, or the country. Incidents of antisemitism have skyrocketed in the last few years and I stand in solidarity with the Jewish community against such disgusting symbols of hate,” she wrote.
Later that day, Pettersen criticized Republican-backed health care legislation: “Republicans gutted our health care system in their Big Ugly Bill — now millions are set to see their premiums double, if not TRIPLE in just a few weeks. For working families already struggling to make ends meet, it’s untenable.”
On October 12, Pettersen commented on former President Donald Trump’s trade policies and their effect on prescription drug costs: “Trump’s tariffs are really just a tax on us. An 81-year-old Coloradan shared with me how Trump’s tariffs led to a $467 bill at CVS for lifesaving medication that costs just $27 in Canada. No one should have to choose between their health and groceries, rent, or anything else.”
Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th district since replacing Ed Perlmutter in Congress in 2023. She previously served as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019 and the Colorado Senate from 2019 to 2023. Born in Lakewood, Colorado in 1981 and currently residing there, Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
