U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently addressed concerns from constituents through a series of posts on her official Twitter account. The tweets covered topics ranging from the impact of recent legislation on seniors to the challenges facing rural tourism and retirement savings.

On August 3, 2025, Pettersen shared her experience meeting with local residents: “We kicked off our work in the district answering questions from constituents who are deeply concerned about the impacts of the “big ugly bill” at Eaton Senior Communities. My heart breaks thinking about the seniors who are on fixed incomes and are already struggling to pay for a”.

Later that day, she reflected on her personal background and the importance of retirement planning: “I started working in 6th grade cleaning houses and worked every odd job to get by and put myself through school. But like so many, I didn’t have the chance to save for retirement until much later. Having access to a 401k plan can make a drastic difference for quality of life in”.

On August 4, Pettersen discussed economic issues affecting rural communities: “Tourism is the lifeline to our mountain communities & because of the tariffs & Trump’s threats to our allies, we are seeing significant decrease in tourists to the US. I’ve heard from business owners across the rural parts of my district who told me that rising costs are”.

Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023, succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously held seats in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
