U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has recently addressed a series of issues through her social media posts, including judicial actions on child care funding, calls for federal accountability, and constituent services.
On February 7, 2026, Pettersen posted about a court decision involving child care funding in Colorado: “Some rare good news: A judge just blocked Trump’s unlawful move to withhold $300 million in child care funding for CO. Trying to weaponize vulnerable kids & families is beyond devastating and cruel. Grateful to everyone who spoke out and to our AG for fighting this.”
Later that day, she joined calls for the resignation of a federal official, stating: “I joined @Ilhan in calling for @SecNoem’s immediate resignation. Under her watch, Americans like Alex Pretti and Renée Good were murdered by federal agents with zero accountability, and more than 30 people have died in ICE custody in just the past year. We deserve leadership” (February 7, 2026).
The following day, Pettersen highlighted her office’s support for constituents navigating federal agencies: “Navigating federal agencies like the IRS can be a long and stressful process, but you don’t have to do it alone. My team and I are committed to being a resource for CO-07! My job is to make sure our government works for you. If you’re having trouble with a federal agency, please” (February 8, 2026).
Brittany Pettersen began serving as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District in 2023 after replacing Ed Perlmutter. Before her current role in Congress, she served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature—from the House of Representatives between 2013 and 2019 and then the Senate from 2019 until her election to Congress.
She was born in Colorado in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood.
Pettersen earned her bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
