U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, addressed a range of national and local issues in a series of posts on September 9, 2025. Her statements touched on concerns about democracy, environmental legislation, and constituent services.
In a post from the afternoon of September 9, Pettersen expressed concern about threats to democratic institutions: “As a mom, I’m constantly thinking about the future of our country & our democracy. Trump continues to threaten the very ideals that define our nation — from attacking our voting system, our institutions and trying to silence the press – there couldn’t be more at stake to protect” (September 9, 2025).
Later that day, she criticized recent legislative actions by House Republicans regarding environmental policy: “The House Republicans just passed on of the most anti-environmental bills in U.S. history.
These 69 anti-environmental provisions won’t just hurt our planet — they will cause irreparable damage to our Colorado families.
From eliminating the EV tax credit to gutting climate” (September 9, 2025).
In an evening update, Pettersen highlighted her office’s efforts to assist constituents with travel documentation: “Our office can help you renew your passport, answer questions, & make sure you’re ready for upcoming international travel. At our recent passport fair, my team helped 137 community members get the support they needed — whether for a vacation, a work trip, or anything else taking” (September 9, 2025).
Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of both the Colorado House of Representatives and Senate between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
