U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media reflecting on family milestones, school safety concerns, and the importance of overdose prevention.
On September 16, 2025, Pettersen shared a personal message celebrating her husband’s birthday: “Wishing the happiest of birthdays to my best friend and husband, Ian. Davis and Sam are so lucky to have you as their father and I’m grateful every day for the life we’ve built. Thank you for being our rock and for being on this adventure with me. Looking forward to many more.”
Later that day, she addressed issues surrounding school safety following an incident at Evergreen High School: “Our schools are supposed to be a safe place – one where we should be able to drop our kids off without worrying if we will see them again. Unfortunately, that is far from our reality in the US and what happened at Evergreen High School is every parent’s worst nightmare
I’m” (September 16, 2025).
On September 17, 2025, Pettersen highlighted the life-saving potential of naloxone during a bipartisan training event: “Naloxone saves lives — and knowing how to use it can mean everything in a moment of crisis. My mom wouldn’t be alive today without this overdose reversal drug.
Grateful to join the Bipartisan Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Task Force’s Naloxone Training to help equip”.
Pettersen has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before her tenure in Washington D.C., she represented constituents in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature from 2013 through early 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
