U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of messages on social media highlighting legislative efforts and challenges facing families in Colorado. Pettersen addressed issues ranging from diaper affordability to overdose deaths and online fraud targeting older adults.
On September 15, 2025, Pettersen wrote about the impact of diaper affordability on families: “Not having a reliable supply of diapers can impact everything, from a kid’s health & safety to a parent’s ability to go to work every day. 1 in 2 families have difficulty paying for diapers. In Colorado I was able to pass the first ever funding at the state level for diaper”.
Later that day, she discussed recent progress in reducing drug-related fatalities in Colorado while expressing concern over proposed federal policy changes: “We’ve finally seen a reduction in overdose deaths in CO, including a 35% reduction in fentanyl deaths in the last year alone. But Trump’s OBBB is going to decimate the progress we’ve made to ensure that those who want help have access to the treatment they need.”
On September 16, Pettersen commented on financial scams affecting seniors: “An 80-year-old was conned out of nearly $6,700 by a scammer on a dating app. This type of fraud is shameful & should be preventable.
Stories like this aren’t rare. That’s why I introduced legislation to hold platforms accountable & require basic safeguards that protect users.”
Brittany Pettersen has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. She previously held positions in both chambers of the Colorado legislature between 2013 and 2023 and holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Born in Lakewood, Colorado in 1981, Pettersen continues her work advocating for family welfare and public safety initiatives.
