U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, addressed a range of issues including the importance of federal workers, concerns about a government shutdown, and the ongoing situation in Gaza in a series of posts on her social media account in October 2025.
On October 8, Pettersen highlighted the essential roles played by federal employees, stating, “We rely on federal workers for our national security, to protect our public lands and mitigate wildfire risk, to provide support for essential benefits like Social Security, Medicaid, & Medicare, and they even ensure we don’t collide with other planes midair. Shutdowns have”.
The following day, she expressed gratitude to constituents who participated in a recent event and acknowledged their concerns regarding the government shutdown and health care issues. On October 9, Pettersen wrote, “Thanks to the nearly 16,000 Coloradans who joined our telephone town hall last night! I know so many of you are concerned about the government shutdown & the looming health care crisis. Please know that I will keep fighting for you & my team is working around the clock to support”.
Later that same day, Pettersen commented on developments related to Gaza and regional diplomacy efforts. She stated, “While I am hopeful, this is only the first phase of the agreement and it is critical that the neighboring Arab nations continue to pressure Hamas to uphold their commitment to disarm and relinquish control of Gaza. The US must play a leading role in coordinating these efforts,”.
Brittany Pettersen has served as Colorado’s 7th district representative since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously held positions in both the Colorado House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019 and the Colorado Senate from 2019 to 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981, Pettersen resides in Lakewood and holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
