U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on May 4, 2026, addressing a range of topics including food benefits for seniors and families, rising fuel costs attributed to international conflict, and recognition of firefighters’ service.

In her first post on May 4, Pettersen stated: “9,000 seniors and families in Colorado are being denied access to lifesaving food benefits because of Donald Trump. But it’s not just his cuts in the Farm Bill. It’s not just his cuts to SNAP. It’s everything — all at once— a death by a thousand cuts as Trump completely https://t.co/qZksN0WBJl”.

Later that day, she commented on economic challenges facing the airline industry: “Spirit says that the skyrocketing cost of fuel was part of the reason they had to shut down. Since Trump’s war in Iran began, jet fuel prices have surged, fueling an economic crisis that is now reaching a breaking point.

The ‘Trump Tax’ is real. We’re paying for it at the pump,” she wrote on May 4.

On International Firefighters’ Day, Pettersen expressed gratitude for firefighters and shared a personal connection: “On International Firefighters’ Day, I’d like to thank the brave firefighters who put their lives on the line to protect our communities.

My youngest brother is a firefighter, and I’ve seen firsthand the sacrifices these jobs require. Their work couldn’t be more important to our https://t.co/xhtjKG7Nqf” (May 4).

Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously served in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
