U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets between September 20 and 21, 2025, addressing national security concerns, the importance of a free press, and local child care initiatives.
On September 20, Pettersen commented on foreign interference following the murder of Charlie Kirk: “No one should be surprised that our adversaries are trying to exploit our divisions — spreading lies and conspiracies after Charlie Kirk’s murder to inflame more tensions between us. Later that day, she highlighted her participation at a press conference: “I joined reporters and media leaders at the National Federation of Press Women’s Conference because their role couldn’t be more important in ensuring we continue to have a free press and a resilient democracy. On September 21, Pettersen addressed local issues in Cripple Creek: “Exciting to see “A Place for Kids” break ground in Cripple Creek. In a community where child care is hard to come by, this is a vital step to ensuring every family has access to the care they need. Pettersen has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of both the Colorado House of Representatives (2013–2019) and the Colorado Senate (2019–2023). Born in Colorado in 1981, Pettersen resides in Lakewood and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
