U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on April 17, 2026, addressing concerns about foreign policy decisions, tourism impacts in Colorado, and support for housing initiatives for vulnerable populations.
In her first post at 13:14 UTC, Pettersen criticized Pete Hegseth’s actions by stating: “Pete Hegseth is wildly incompetent & dangerous. He’s violating our constitution by dragging us into an unauthorized war & breaking international law by targeting civilians & threatening to destroy civilian infrastructure. As a mom, I’m terrified by his actions & the long-term https://t.co/eheHfaeNwW”
Later that day at 14:13 UTC, she highlighted the economic consequences of decreased international tourism: “The number of International tourists visiting the US is down, especially visitors from Canada and Germany. This has a huge impact on our rural communities in Colorado, which rely on tourism to fuel their economy. Apparently, threatening to take over our allied countries not only”
In her third tweet at 20:30 UTC, Pettersen focused on local community efforts in Littleton: “Trailhead Community in Littleton was created to serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and seniors – people who too often face the greatest challenges finding stable, affordable housing. With rising costs, we have to continue investing in the solutions https://t.co/liWnW3mEBR”
Brittany Pettersen has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of both the Colorado House of Representatives (2013-2019) and the Colorado Senate (2019-2023). Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
