U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently addressed her constituents through a series of posts on social media, covering topics from the ongoing government shutdown to religious observances and international incidents.
On October 1, 2025, Pettersen announced a new communication initiative with her post: “I know so many people have questions about what’s going on in Washington right now. That’s why we’re starting a new series – Breaking it Down with Brittany. This week, we’re breaking down Trump’s Government Shutdown. What is it? Why is it happening? And how can Republicans put https://t.co/4u0DLiIezc”.
The following day, she extended wishes for Yom Kippur: “On this Yom Kippur, I am wishing an easy and meaningful fast and for today to be a time of reflection, healing, and renewed commitment to one another. This is an incredibly uncertain & stressful time, so I hope this day brings a sense of strength to all.” (October 2, 2025).
Later on October 2, Pettersen responded to news of violence abroad: “So heartbroken to hear about the attack on worshippers at a Manchester synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year. My heart is with the victims, their families, and the Jewish community in Manchester and across the world. We must continue to condemn https://t.co/mrSIiI7u3a”.
Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since 2023 after serving terms in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature. She succeeded Ed Perlmutter in her current role and has lived most of her life in Colorado, where she was born in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood. Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
