U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of messages on August 27, 2025, addressing concerns about gun violence, proposed federal budget cuts, and access to health care.

In her first post at 17:24 UTC, Pettersen reacted to news of a school shooting in Minneapolis: “Heartbreaking doesn’t even do it justice. I’m devastated to learn of yet another school shooting in Minneapolis.

Like so many moms, I just dropped my son, Davis, off for his first full week of school. I can’t imagine the pain of parents who will never see their children come” (August 27, 2025).

Later that evening at 20:31 UTC, she commented on community anxiety over possible reductions in federal spending: “Many in our community are terrified about the proposed budget cuts — not just to HUD, but across the board — and what they could mean for themselves and the 200,000+ Coloradans who rely on these programs to keep a roof over their heads. Survivors of domestic violence and their” (August 27, 2025).

By late evening at 23:31 UTC, Pettersen shared reflections from a visit with local health care providers: “So grateful to visit with the health care providers & patients at @stridechc in Wheat Ridge to learn about the basic care they provide for families who need it most in our community.

But because of Trump, many will be forced out of the care they need. I’m working with local” (August 27, 2025).

Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative since replacing Ed Perlmutter in Colorado’s 7th district in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress began that year, she was a member of both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature from 2013 through early 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and residing in Lakewood at age forty-one as of this writing, Pettersen is an alumna of Metropolitan State University of Denver.
