U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on June 1, 2026, addressing family medical leave challenges, LGBTQ+ rights during Pride Month, and the importance of mail-in ballots.
In her first post on June 1 at 13:26 UTC, Pettersen highlighted difficulties faced by families with infants in neonatal intensive care units: “No parent should have to call into work from the hospital while their newborn is fighting for their life in the NICU. But right now, many families are forced to make these impossible choices while going through one of the hardest experiences they will face.”
Later that day at 15:34 UTC, she marked the beginning of Pride Month by recognizing LGBTQ+ activists and expressing concern over current political developments: “Happy Pride! This month we celebrate the generations of brave people who fought for the right to live fully as themselves. While we can and should celebrate, it’s also a time to join together and continue the fight. Trump is doing everything he can to strip away the rights and”
On June 1 at 21:44 UTC, Pettersen discussed barriers some voters face when casting ballots in person and advocated for mail-in voting systems: “Maybe you work full-time or live too far from a polling location or just can’t physically travel to the polls. Mail-in ballots make voting possible for millions, & CO’s mail-in ballot system is one of the most secure & effective election systems in the country. Trump’s attacks”
Brittany Pettersen has served in Congress since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. Before her current role, she was a member of both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
