U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, currently representing Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on May 20, 2026, addressing concerns about housing costs, government spending priorities, and social issues impacting Colorado families.
In her first post at 17:26 UTC, Pettersen wrote: “All across Colorado, families are getting absolutely crushed by the cost of housing. From our biggest cities to our rural towns, out-of-state investors are driving up costs & crowding out local buyers. That’s why I worked across the aisle on legislation to cut red tape for rural”.
Later that day at 21:09 UTC, she commented on federal expenditures related to the January 6 Capitol attack: “Trump’s DOJ is cutting taxpayer-funded checks to Jan. 6 rioters who attacked our Capitol & assaulted police officers. But when it comes to Medicaid, Medicare, & daycare for working families? Trump says there’s ‘no money.’ Corrupt & completely backwards.”
At 21:28 UTC on the same day, Pettersen addressed economic and social issues facing Coloradans: “Gas is over $4/gallon, and health premiums are skyrocketing. Instead of focusing on the pressing issues so many of us are facing, the GOP is attacking trans students to score cheap political points on the backs of our most vulnerable kids. Every child should feel safe and”.
Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023 and previously held positions in both chambers of the Colorado legislature. She was born in Colorado in 1981 and resides in Lakewood. Pettersen holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
