U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, addressed several key issues facing her constituents and the nation in a series of posts on September 8, 2025.
In her first post of the day, Pettersen highlighted housing affordability as a top concern among families: “I hear every day from families in CO & across the country that the rising costs of housing is their number one concern. Far too many people are being pushed out of the communities they grew up in and the communities they love because they can no longer afford to live there” (September 8, 2025).
Later that afternoon, she addressed misinformation related to public health and gun violence. Pettersen wrote: “Let’s set the record straight — vaccines did not kill more Americans than COVID-19. And no, Anti-depressants do not cause gun violence. This anti-science agenda is downright dangerous.” (September 8, 2025).
In her final post for the day, Pettersen marked Suicide & Crisis Hotline Day by encouraging those struggling with mental health challenges to seek support: “Today is the second annual 988 Suicide & Crisis Hotline Day – a reminder that help is always just a call or message away. Just know – you are never alone. And you never have to face a mental health crisis by yourself.” (September 8, 2025).
Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. Before her election to Congress, she served in both chambers of Colorado’s legislature—from 2013 to 2019 in the House of Representatives and from 2019 to 2023 in the Senate. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
