U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district and resides in Lakewood, has recently posted a series of statements on her official Twitter account regarding immigration enforcement activities and related incidents.

On January 23, 2026, Pettersen addressed local concerns about immigration enforcement by stating, “We’re hearing reports of ICE activity in Lakewood. My team is actively monitoring the situation and seeking more information. It’s important to know that everyone has rights protected under the Constitution, regardless of immigration status. Now more than ever, we have to look”.

The following day, she responded to reports from Minnesota involving federal immigration agents: “I am devastated to learn of another person being killed by federal immigration agents in Minnesota. None of us are safer when human life isn’t valued, laws aren’t obeyed, and unidentified agents can terrorize and even kill people without any ramifications. I promise to do” (January 24, 2026).

On January 25, 2026, Pettersen criticized current federal actions at the national level: “Our country is at a breaking point because of the illegal and fascistic actions of this administration. And the American people have had enough. Read my full statement: https://t.co/T0YlIr0lT2”.

Brittany Pettersen began serving as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District in 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature—from the House of Representatives (2013-2019) to the Senate (2019-2023). Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
