U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, addressed several issues affecting her constituents in a series of tweets posted on January 21, 2026.

In her first tweet at 15:44 UTC, Pettersen criticized former President Donald Trump and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem regarding their immigration enforcement policies, stating: “Trump & Kristi Noem are asking Congress to hand them a blank check to continue to unleash ICE to terrorize our communities – and I’m a hell no. What’s happening right now is unlawful, un-American, inhumane, and dangerous. I already voted against billions in funding for ICE in”.

Later that day at 18:05 UTC, she commented on potential cuts to federal child care funding under Trump’s proposed policies: “Trump continues to weaponize vulnerable kids & families. 27,000 CO kids are at risk if he gets his way & cancels federal funding for child care centers in our state. I’m demanding Trump immediately reverse course. Thousands of kids are at risk of losing access to a safe place to”.

At 20:30 UTC the same day, Pettersen addressed rising property insurance costs in Colorado: “Rising property insurance costs and shrinking coverage are hitting Colorado hard. Our state is now among the top 10 most expensive in the country for homeowners’ insurance. Thank you, the Arvada Chamber, for hosting your Community Impact Forum to hear directly from experts about”.

Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th district since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023 and previously served both in the Colorado House of Representatives (2013-2019) and the Colorado Senate (2019-2023). She was born in Colorado in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood. Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
