U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who has represented Colorado’s 7th district in Congress since 2023, recently shared updates on social media regarding federal immigration policy, healthcare concerns among her constituents, and local industry developments. Pettersen previously served in the Colorado House of Representatives and the Colorado Senate before being elected to Congress.
On July 11, 2025, Pettersen addressed recent federal funding decisions and their implications for immigration enforcement. She stated: “Trump and the Republicans just gave ICE Detention $45B to expand their capacity; six former prison sites in Colorado are being considered for new ICE detention centers. ICE is deporting and detaining immigrants without due process, permanent residents, and even US citizens in”.
The following day, July 12, 2025, Pettersen expressed gratitude to participants at town hall meetings in Cañon City and Woodland Park. She highlighted concerns raised by constituents about healthcare access: “Thank you to everyone who joined our town halls in Cañon City and Woodland Park – it means so much to hear directly from you. I know many Coloradans are scared — about losing access to care and about what comes next. One woman shared how Medicaid keeps her husband alive.”
On July 13, 2025, Pettersen visited a major local employer in Teller County. She reported: “Had a great tour of the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine, one of the biggest employers in Cripple Creek & home to one of the world’s only high-altitude electric mining vehicles – a prototype being tested right here in Teller County. There are only 5 like it in the entire world!”
Brittany Pettersen was born in Colorado in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood. She holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
