U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, shared updates on legislative initiatives and commemorative events through a series of social media posts this week.
On November 17, Pettersen addressed the challenges parents face when traveling with infants, stating, “Traveling with babies is hard enough. You shouldn’t have to worry about how you’ll keep your baby fed because your formula or breast milk was thrown out while going through security. That’s why I’m proud that my bipartisan bill with my friend @RepSwalwell – The BABES Act – https://t.co/rY7ImW8M7D”. The post highlights her advocacy for the BABES Act, which seeks to address concerns over airport security procedures affecting parents carrying infant nutrition.
The following day, November 18, Pettersen reflected on her meeting with survivors before a congressional vote regarding the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. She wrote, “I met with survivors before heading to the floor to vote to release the Epstein files, and it was one of the most meaningful moments during my time in Congress. For decades, they were silenced by the wealthy and powerful and failed by our justice system. But, today they felt seen https://t.co/n5vTI2i1J2”.
On November 19, she marked the anniversary of a tragic attack on Colorado’s LGBTQ+ community: “Three years ago, our LGBTQ+ community was targeted and five innocent lives were lost at Club Q in Colorado Springs – one of the few places they were meant to feel safe and accepted. We will never forget the people who lost their lives and we will keep fighting for a Colorado https://t.co/f6dnlnaV3x”.
Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Her prior service includes terms in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature—from 2013 to 2019 in the House of Representatives and from 2019 to 2023 in the Senate. Born in Colorado in 1981 and residing in Lakewood, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
