U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, representing Colorado’s 7th district, addressed a range of issues in recent posts on her social media account, including LGBTQ+ rights, campus safety, and antisemitism.

On December 13, 2025, Pettersen marked the anniversary of the Respect for Marriage Act by stating, “Love is love. It’s just that simple.

3 years ago, Congress reaffirmed that basic fact with the Respect for Marriage Act. But as the LGBTQ+ community is the #1 target of Trump, it’s more important than ever that we don’t roll back the progress we’ve made.

We have to keep https://t.co/4JDOFlizVC“.

The following day, she responded to a tragic event affecting a university community. On December 14, 2025, Pettersen wrote, “Just devastating. I’m so heartbroken for the families who lost loved ones tonight & for the entire Brown community.

I don’t want to accept this as the norm — and neither should you. Enough is enough. We need to do something to make sure our campuses & public spaces are free https://t.co/6tRXzBnXn1“.

Later on December 14, she commented on an antisemitic incident overseas: “My heart is with the Jewish community in Australia and around the world after this antisemitic attack. At a time when families are lighting Hanukkah candles and celebrating resilience, faith, and light, acts of hate feel especially painful and frightening. Antisemitism has no https://t.co/jdtbv4wTyZ”.

Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since 2023 after serving terms in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature from 2013 through early 2023. She was born in Colorado in 1981 and resides in Lakewood. Pettersen earned her BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
