U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on October 13, 2025, addressing local community events, Indigenous Peoples Day, and the release of hostages by Hamas.
In her first post on October 13, Pettersen reflected on her participation in a community event, stating, “Grateful to join the Evergreen community for their annual Health & Safety Day. I know the community is still reeling from the tragedy at Evergreen High School but they continue to show their strength and resilience. Thankful to spend time with the first responders and https://t.co/LG19WKd2xr”.
Later that day, in recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day, she wrote, “Today on Indigenous Peoples Day, let’s join in honoring native communities and acknowledging the true history of colonization, genocide, & discrimination in North America. As these communities continue to face attacks from Trump on their sovereignty and sacred lands, it is more https://t.co/l1lqKpphjr”.
In a subsequent post dated October 13, Pettersen commented on the release of hostages held by Hamas: “Today, after two years, the remaining living hostages were released after enduring unimaginable conditions at the hands of Hamas. Today marks closure and the beginning of healing from this endless nightmare where parents are finally reunited with their children, and friends, https://t.co/3GxRYOUbnU”.
Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th district since 2023, following her tenure in both chambers of the Colorado legislature. She succeeded Ed Perlmutter in Congress and resides in Lakewood. Born in Colorado in 1981, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
