U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing Medicaid coverage for children, oversight at an immigration detention facility, and the issue of IVF treatment access.

On August 11, 2025, Pettersen wrote about her efforts to maintain health care continuity for young children in Colorado: “I’m joining my CO Democratic colleagues in calling on @CMSGov to renew Colorado’s Medicaid waiver program to ensure our youngest kids will have continuous medical care and won’t be thrown into a system that is designed to kick them and their family members off. This continuity”.

Later that day, she commented on a visit with fellow representatives to the GEO ICE facility in Aurora: “I joined @RepJasonCrow, @RepDianaDeGette, and @RepJoeNeguse in a visit to the GEO ICE facility in Aurora to do a critical part of our job to provide oversight, transparency and accountability. I’m deeply concerned about the well-being of the people who are being detained at this”.

On August 12, 2025, Pettersen addressed claims regarding former President Donald Trump’s stance on IVF coverage: “Another lie from Trump. He never planned to ensure people desperate to start families had medical coverage for IVF treatment, and his handpicked Supreme Court justices have put IVF at risk in numerous states. Some of my closest friends have relied on IVF to fulfill their dream”.

Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously held positions in both chambers of the Colorado legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen earned her BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
