U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has recently addressed political violence and economic concerns through a series of posts on her official social media account.
On September 18, 2025, Pettersen stated, “Nobody should be killed for their beliefs – that is not who we are as a country. That’s why @RepVeasey and I are introducing legislation to unequivocally condemn ALL acts of political violence & call on our colleagues to come together to build the future our kids deserve.”
The following day, she commented on partisan responses to recent events: “My full statement on Republicans’ cynical ploy to divide the country around the rise in political violence and the assassination of Charlie Kirk. “ This post was made on September 19, 2025.
Later that same day, Pettersen criticized current economic policies and recent legislative actions: “Coloradans are being squeezed by rising costs because of Trump’s disastrous economic policies and this funding bill does nothing to meet the economic and health care needs of the American people – and that’s before the tsunami hits from Trump’s Big Ugly Bill. Once again, we are”.
Brittany Pettersen has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously held positions in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature from 2013 until her election to Congress.
She was born in Colorado in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood.
Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
