U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to address issues ranging from rural healthcare and trade policy to community celebrations. Pettersen, a Lakewood resident and former member of the Colorado House and Senate, posted a series of messages between October 18 and October 20, 2025.
On October 18, Pettersen raised concerns about healthcare access in rural Colorado, stating, “Republicans’ refusal to work with us is going to make it impossible for rural Coloradans to get life-saving care. Without action, Fremont, Custer, & Teller Counties are going to see their premiums increase by up to 283%. This is about keeping families on their plans, making https://t.co/O2GGai7MVL”.
The following day, she commented on the economic impact of federal trade policies, writing on October 19: “Confirming what we already knew: Trump’s tariffs are costing all of us. We shouldn’t be footing the bill for Trump’s trade war. In Congress, I’ve been sounding the alarm for months but we need Republicans to join us & put an end to this. https://t.co/MjFXa8z9eb”.
On October 20, Pettersen marked the Diwali holiday with a message focused on unity and hope: “Happy Diwali! Today we celebrate light over darkness, hope over fear, and community over division. May this Festival of Lights remind us of the power we have to build a brighter, more compassionate future together. https://t.co/Mu3pBQOilK”.
Pettersen has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before her election to Congress, she was a member of both the Colorado House of Representatives (2013-2019) and the Colorado Senate (2019-2023). Born in Colorado in 1981 and holding a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver, Pettersen has been active in state and federal politics for over a decade.
