U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on February 12, 2026, addressing recent political and safety issues.

In a post made at 16:13 UTC, Pettersen commented on the actions of individuals involved in the January 6th Capitol riot. She wrote, “No surprise that January 6th insurrectionists pardoned by Trump continue to break the law and make us all less safe. If you’re willing to try to overthrow the US government, you’re capable of a lot of other atrocious things, just like our president.”

Later that day at 17:27 UTC, she addressed the case of Alex Pretti and criticized former President Donald Trump and Governor Kristi Noem for their remarks. Pettersen stated, “The Prettis are right, Alex didn’t deserve this. He was a kind person who dedicated his life to helping those in need, even in his final moments. As Trump and Noem continue to lie and smear his name, we must tell Alex’s story. And we must continue to fight until there is”.

At 20:06 UTC on the same day, Pettersen discussed school safety following an incident at Evergreen High School. She wrote about legislative efforts targeting social media companies’ response times to threats: “The shooting at Evergreen High School was preventable. We shouldn’t have to wait months for a response from social media companies while lives are on the line. We worked together to introduce a bill to force social media companies to respond quicker to credible threats, so law”.
