U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, addressed a range of national and local issues in a series of tweets posted on March 18, 2026.

In a post published at 15:56 UTC, Pettersen criticized former President Donald Trump, stating: “Donald Trump has never cared about anyone but himself. He is a corrupt grifter whose priority as President has been enriching himself & his family on the backs of our families, our national security, and our well-being.”

Later that day at 20:32 UTC, she turned her attention to housing affordability concerns within her district. She wrote: “Housing costs are rising & too many families feel like homeownership is out of reach. Thanks to everyone who joined our Housing Resource Fair in Lakewood this week to connect with HUD, legal aid, eviction prevention services, and more. If you missed it, check out my website for”

At 21:30 UTC on the same day, Pettersen highlighted the impact of immigration policies on children detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She stated: “This little girl, just six years old, should be playing, learning, and enjoying being a kid. Instead, she’s locked behind bars in an ICE detention center because of Trump’s immigration crackdown. My own son, Davis, is also six years old. I cannot imagine the heartbreak her family”

Pettersen has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before her tenure in Congress began in 2023, she served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature—first in the House from 2013 to 2019 and then in the Senate until joining Congress.
She was born in Colorado in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood.
Pettersen holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
