U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently addressed several national and state issues through her social media posts. Pettersen commented on former President Donald Trump’s foreign policy stance, the anniversary of the January 6 Capitol attack, and potential changes to child care funding for Colorado families.
On January 6, 2026, Pettersen criticized Trump’s approach to Venezuela, stating in a post: “Trump has no plan for what’s next except, apparently, improvising the idea that the US will now run Venezuela. Trump can’t even run the country he’s currently the President of, and the American people overwhelmingly do not support military action in Venezuela. Americans want to” (posted on January 6, 2026).
Later that day, she reflected on the fifth anniversary of the Capitol riot: “Today marks five years since the violent attack on the US Capitol — one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.
Our democracy was tested and persevered. Free and fair elections, the peaceful transfer of power, & a representative democracy are not guaranteed. It will” (posted on January 6, 2026).
In another post dated January 6, 2026, Pettersen raised concerns about federal child care funding for Colorado: “We’re hearing deeply concerning reports that Trump may withhold child care funding from Colorado families.
This would be the latest act of political retaliation against our state for refusing to release election denier and convicted criminal Tina Peters. My team is actively”.
Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023 and previously served in both chambers of Colorado’s legislature from 2013 to 2023. She was born in Colorado in 1981 and resides in Lakewood. Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
