U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing public health and political issues affecting her constituents.
On January 6, 2026, Pettersen emphasized the importance of vaccinations amid a severe flu season in Colorado. She wrote, “I don’t know how many times we have to repeat it: vaccines are safe & effective. They save lives. Colorado is facing a record flu season, with nearly 800 hospitalizations and low vaccination rates of only 27.5%, making this a serious and immediate concern for families across our” (January 6, 2026).
The following day, she criticized former President Donald Trump regarding federal childcare funding decisions impacting Colorado families. In her post dated January 7, 2026, Pettersen stated, “Trump continues his Colorado retribution campaign by going after the childcare funding thousands of families rely on – all because Governor Polis refuses to bend the knee. It’s truly monstrous, even for him.”
Later that same day, Pettersen responded to news from Minnesota involving the death of a woman and federal immigration enforcement actions under Trump’s administration. She said, “My heart breaks for the family and loved ones of the woman killed in Minnesota today. This is a devastating and unnecessary loss of life.
Trump has been sending ICE into our communities, terrorizing immigrants and ripping families apart. Now, Trump and his allies are doing what” (January 7, 2026).
Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she was a member of both the Colorado House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019 and the Colorado Senate from 2019 to 2023. Born in Lakewood in 1981 and currently residing there at age 41, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
