U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on social media this week addressing both environmental concerns in the West and political developments at the national level.

On April 15, 2026, Pettersen highlighted water scarcity issues facing Western states. She wrote, “In the West, our water is our lifeline. It supports agriculture, tourism, and our residents. The following day, on April 16, Pettersen turned her attention to Pete Hegseth’s actions in office. In a direct statement she posted, “Pete Hegseth’s actions are reckless, violate our Constitution & international law, & have created a global crisis. The American people have absolutely no confidence in Hegseth to do this job. It’s time for him to resign – or we will remove him from office.”

Later that same day, Pettersen commented on recent military decisions by President Trump: “I just voted for a War Powers Resolution to rein in this lawless president. Brittany Pettersen has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously held seats in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
