U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, shared several posts on social media addressing International Women’s Day, the loss of a local soldier, and her criticism of former President Donald Trump’s policies.
On March 8, 2026, Pettersen marked International Women’s Day by stating: “Happy International Women’s Day! I’m inspired by the women in my life and across our communities who are breaking barriers and fighting for a better future. Today is a celebration of progress, but also a reminder that our work isn’t finished. At a time when so many rights are”.
A day later, on March 9, 2026, she addressed the death of Sgt. Benjamin Pennington with this message: “Heartbroken that Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, who was stationed at Fort Carson & part of our CO community, made the ultimate sacrifice in a war Congress never authorized. I’m thinking of his family and friends today. The best way we can honor his service is by reining in our rogue”.
Later that same day, Pettersen posted criticism regarding spending priorities under former President Trump: “Donald Trump is spending a billion dollars a day on his war in Iran while ripping Americans’ healthcare and food assistance away because he says it is too costly. He has no plan for peace and no plan for families HERE at home who are already struggling to get by.”
Brittany Pettersen has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023 and previously held seats in both chambers of the Colorado legislature from 2013 to 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and residing in Lakewood, she holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
