U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to discuss political engagement, water security, and constitutional rights. Pettersen, who has served in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after replacing Ed Perlmutter, posted a series of messages between February 17 and February 19.

On February 17, Pettersen reflected on her motivation for entering politics and emphasized the importance of youth participation: “I started getting involved in politics to level the playing field for regular people like me. Unfortunately, the opportunities I had growing up have become further and further out of reach.

We can change that by having young people have a seat at the table. I’m truly honored to https://t.co/RRkyamff1y“.

The following day, she addressed concerns about Colorado’s water resources and bipartisan cooperation: “Colorado’s future depends on its water supply. I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with our state’s leading experts at Colorado Water Congress.

Ensuring federal investments for water security shouldn’t be partisan. We must work together to ensure our state continues to https://t.co/QTTfyg1JHP” (February 18).

On February 19, Pettersen highlighted constitutional protections for all individuals residing in the United States: “Everyone in the United States has fundamental rights under the Constitution, whether you are a citizen, a legal resident, or an undocumented immigrant.

As ICE continues to terrorize our communities, make sure you know your rights to protect yourself and your neighbors. Please”.

Pettersen’s comments reflect ongoing themes in her career. She previously served in both chambers of Colorado’s legislature before joining Congress in 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen is an alumna of Metropolitan State University of Denver.
