U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to comment on judicial actions regarding federal spending and to highlight issues facing older Americans and Colorado families.
On May 29, 2026, Pettersen posted about a court decision related to former President Donald Trump’s use of taxpayer funds: “Some good news: a judge has temporarily blocked Trump from using our tax dollars to create a slush fund to cut checks for criminals who attacked our Capitol. While families are paying more at the gas pump, the grocery store, and for health care, Trump thinks taxpayers should”.
Later that same day, she addressed challenges faced by senior citizens during Older Americans Month: “Every May, we recognize Older Americans Month, and this year, I want to make sure Colorado seniors actually know what’s available to them. Too many older Coloradans are navigating fraud, rising healthcare costs, and caregiving challenges alone. The least we can do is make sure”.
On May 31, 2026, Pettersen criticized Trump’s reported plans for White House renovations and linked them to broader policy concerns: “Trump destroyed part of the White House without asking Congress, and now he wants taxpayer money to build himself a fancy ballroom. While he’s busy renovating, he’s cutting Medicaid, raising your gas prices, and taking away benefits Colorado families depend on. So I’m joining”.
Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature—from 2013 to 2019 in the House of Representatives and from 2019 to 2023 in the Senate. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
