U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to comment on the political impact and legal status of tariffs imposed during former President Donald Trump’s administration.

On February 19, 2026, Pettersen stated, “Last week, we saw Trump’s hold on Republicans start to crumble. They also know how devastating Trump’s tariffs have been to our economy and standing in the world. Together, we forced a vote on the House floor and passed a bill to end Trump’s reckless tariffs on our neighbor and”.

The following day, she posted about the effects of policies implemented under Trump: “What people are being put through seemed unimaginable in this country before Trump. This is not who we are as a country.” (February 20, 2026).

Later that same day, Pettersen commented on a Supreme Court decision regarding the legality of Trump-era tariffs: “The Supreme Court’s decision confirmed what we already knew — Trump’s tariffs are ILLEGAL. The Supreme Court has done what it’s supposed to do by finally putting a check on Donald Trump’s lawlessness and complete abuse of power.” (February 20, 2026).

Brittany Pettersen began representing Colorado’s 7th district in Congress in 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature—first in the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019 and then in the Senate from 2019 to 2023. Pettersen was born in Colorado in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
