U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has recently posted a series of messages on her official social media account addressing the productivity of the current congressional session, public health concerns, and her engagement with local students.
On March 23, 2026, Pettersen criticized Speaker Johnson for the perceived inefficiency of the legislative body. She wrote: “Congrats to @SpeakerJohnson for presiding over one of the least productive sessions in recent history. Shutdown fights, blocked votes, & no action on the issues Americans actually care about. Hey Speaker Johnson, friendly reminder to start doing your job. “
The following day, March 24, she commented on public health policy under the current administration: “This administration’s attacks on science & public health are already having real consequences for our kids. More parents are already declining routine preventive care for newborns, putting all of us at risk. Listen to your doctors — not incompetent, conspiracy theorists like”
Later that same day, Pettersen shared her experience visiting Jefferson High School: “Times are so tough right now, but nothing brightens my day more than being with young people. So great to speak to the students at Jefferson High School about my path to Congress & what I’m doing to support our next generation. Thank you for hosting me & asking thoughtful”
Pettersen has served as a U.S. Representative since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter and previously held seats in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature from 2013 through early 2023. She was born in Colorado in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood. Pettersen is an alumna of Metropolitan State University of Denver.
