U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has recently voiced strong concerns on social media regarding federal administration policies and legislative developments. In a series of posts dated December 7 and 8, 2025, Pettersen addressed topics ranging from vaccine policy to the treatment of pregnant women in ICE custody and affordable housing legislation.
On December 7, Pettersen criticized recent actions by the administration concerning vaccine policy. She stated, “Just unbelievable, the amount of damage this administration is going to cause in such a short amount of time. RFK Jr & his hand-picked panel of anti-vaxxers are going to undo decades of progress. Vaccines are safe & save lives. Every parent should be terrified — I know I am.”
The following day, Pettersen expressed her concern over reports involving pregnant women detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). On December 8, she posted: “Pregnant women in ICE custody are being shackled & denied care. I’m appalled — this administration’s cruelty knows no bounds. EVERYONE, no matter their immigration status, deserves dignity, safety, and access to health care. I joined my colleagues calling on @DHSgov, who must”.
Later that same day, Pettersen addressed legislative developments related to affordable housing in Colorado. She wrote: “I’m deeply disappointed to see 3 of my bills were ultimately excluded from the defense funding legislation that would’ve expanded affordable housing for Coloradans. Housing is the #1 pain point for working families in CO & across the country. I’ll keep using my position on”.
Brittany Pettersen has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter and previously held positions in both chambers of the Colorado legislature (Colorado House from 2013-2019; Colorado Senate from 2019-2023). Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, she holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
