U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on October 14, 2025, criticizing recent Republican initiatives and former President Donald Trump’s policies affecting health care, public lands, and Medicaid in Colorado.
In her first tweet of the day, Pettersen wrote: “Republicans are once again trying to rip away the tax credits that keep health insurance costs low for millions of families. Because of Donald Trump, premiums are about to skyrocket, hundreds of thousands of Coloradans could lose their coverage, and rural hospitals will be” (October 14, 2025).
Later that afternoon, she addressed concerns over public land management: “Trump made it easier to sell off our public lands in his Big Ugly Bill. Now, Trump’s @BLMNational plans to sell 50k+ acres of Colorado’s public lands for oil & gas development. Colorado’s public lands are part of who we are & are critical to our economy & way of life. They” (October 14, 2025).
In a third post that evening, Pettersen highlighted the impact on Medicaid payments: “Trump’s Big Ugly Bill is devastating Colorado families by cutting Medicaid payments for those who care for their disabled loved ones. Every day life is already becoming more unaffordable, and this cruel cut could be the breaking point for family caregivers struggling to keep up” (October 14, 2025).
Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature and holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Born in Colorado in 1981, Pettersen currently resides in Lakewood.
