U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has used her social media platform to voice concerns over recent actions by federal immigration authorities and the current administration.

On February 2, 2026, Pettersen commented on the release of two detainees, stating: “This is a glimmer of hope amid the chaos. Liam and his dad have finally been released. But the fact that a literal child was thrown behind bars in the first place is despicable. We need to keep speaking out to put an end to this lawless, rogue ICE operation.”

The following day, she criticized federal leadership and her own legislative body’s actions regarding funding for immigration enforcement: “Our country is at a breaking point because of this administration’s illegal and fascistic actions. We need a complete overhaul of this rogue agency, starting with the removal of Kristi Noem. I voted against this funding package today that includes funding for DHS. Until there” (February 3, 2026).

Later on February 3, Pettersen addressed reports from Eagle County: “Federal law enforcement should protect our communities, not terrorize them. The reports of ICE agents using racist ‘death cards’ to intimidate Latino families in Eagle County are absolutely shameful. This isn’t an isolated incident, it’s part of a pattern to scare immigrant”.

Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after replacing Ed Perlmutter. She previously held seats in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature between 2013 and 2023 and resides in Lakewood (FACTS 1–3). Pettersen earned her bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver (FACT 4).
