U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 9, 2026, expressing concern over recent federal actions and the conduct of the current administration.
In her first post, Pettersen wrote: “From unilaterally deciding to snatch a foreign leader in the middle of the night and declaring that the US will run the country, to threatening our NATO allies, we should all be very terrified by our very unwell, unhinged, and dangerous president. Yesterday, the Senate passed a https://t.co/IGltik0wzU” (January 9, 2026).
Later that day, she addressed an incident involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating: “This week has been tragic. Like so many of you, I’ve been rattled seeing Renee Good — a mom who wasn’t a threat to anyone — get shot & killed by ICE agents with zero evidence to justify this killing. NONE. And yet, Kristi Noem and this administration have tried to justify these” (January 9, 2026).
In another tweet posted moments later, Pettersen reaffirmed her stance against expanding ICE’s authority: “I have opposed any attempt to expand ICE’s authority and will continue to show up at detention centers to bring the oversight needed. My team is working around the clock to support people and families who have been impacted and ensure our community members have the resources” (January 9, 2026).
Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. She previously held positions in both chambers of Colorado’s legislature from 2013 through early 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
