U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, used her social media platform on January 14, 2026, to criticize former President Donald Trump and Republican policies on healthcare and opioid addiction.

In a post published at 17:03 UTC, Pettersen stated, “Trump is waging an all-out war with anyone who disagrees with him. This is absolutely illegal— you cannot withhold funds already approved by Congress just because we refuse to fall in line with his unlawful agenda. I’m closely tracking this and will fight this every step of the https://t.co/cVeHCvrQ0s”.

Later that day, at 18:21 UTC, she posted about the ongoing opioid crisis: “Trump claims he cares about the fentanyl crisis but continues to completely dismantle the systems that are helping curb the opioid epidemic & lower overdose deaths. It’s completely backwards. Pulling the rug out from our behavioral health system will have devastating ripple https://t.co/yR0xYGoGhd”.

At 20:35 UTC on the same day, Pettersen addressed concerns over healthcare coverage: “A record number of families are forgoing health care coverage because Republicans refused to extend the ACA subsidies. This could be life-or-death for people across the country. We only have 1 more day until open enrollment closes. House Democrats did our part. Now we need Senate https://t.co/gGhMtquq2c”.

Pettersen has served as a U.S. Representative since 2023 after replacing Ed Perlmutter and previously held positions in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature from 2013 to 2023. She was born in Colorado in 1981 and currently resides in Lakewood. Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
