U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, used her social media platform this week to criticize former President Donald Trump and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, while also highlighting a legislative victory related to worker protections.
On January 13, 2026, Pettersen stated on her official X account, “Trump doesn’t care about the American people. He only cares about himself, his billionaire friends, and seeking political revenge. He has continued to target CO and is now unlawfully withholding millions of dollars for child care funding that thousands of families rely on.”
Later the same day, she shared news of legislative progress: “We had another win tonight. We killed a bill that would compromise worker protections. Let’s keep up the pressure and keep fracturing their support.”
On January 14, 2026, Pettersen turned her attention to South Dakota’s governor: “Secretary Kristi Noem has shown a shocking disregard for human life, the rule of law, and the Constitution of this country. That’s why I have repeatedly called for her to resign. But if she will not step aside, we must remove her from office. She is incompetent and unfit to”
Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Prior to serving in Congress, she was a member of both the Colorado House of Representatives (2013-2019) and Colorado Senate (2019-2023). Pettersen was born in Colorado in 1981 and resides in Lakewood; she holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
