U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently addressed several national issues on her social media account, including economic trends, consumer prices, and school safety.

On February 13, 2026, Pettersen commented on recent employment figures: “The numbers are in & unsurprisingly, Trump’s disastrous policies have brought devastating consequences to our economy. In just the last year, we’ve lost 10,000 clean energy manufacturing jobs. Trump promised a ‘manufacturing renaissance’ but that’s been far from the reality.”

The following day, February 14, she noted the impact of tariffs on consumer goods: “Love is in the air, but so are rising prices. While you’re picking out something sweet for your Valentine this year, you will likely be paying more for less. Due to Trump’s tariffs, even the cost of boxed chocolates has jumped by 11.8%. I hope the future brings more love, fewer”.

Later that same day, Pettersen marked the anniversary of a significant tragedy: “8 years ago, 17 students & teachers were murdered in their classrooms in Parkland, FL. Schools are supposed to be safe places where our kids are protected. That is far from reality in the US, where the number one cause of death for our kids is from gun violence. As a mom,”

Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in Congress in 2023 and previously served both in the Colorado House of Representatives (2013–2019) and Senate (2019–2023). Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, she holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
