U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, currently representing Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on May 12 and 13, 2026, addressing topics ranging from former President Donald Trump to immigration enforcement and air travel safety.
On May 12, Pettersen commented on former President Trump, stating “For once, Trump tells the truth! He doesn’t care about the well-being of the American people and never did.”
Later that day, she addressed recent developments regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), writing “No one is above the law—especially those sworn to uphold it. And a federal judge has confirmed that ICE’s practice of warrantless arrests is a violation of people’s rights. This is an important step forward, but the work doesn’t stop here. We must continue to push for reforms”.
On May 13, Pettersen turned her attention to issues affecting airport workers and air traffic controllers: “Airport workers and air traffic controllers are overworked, understaffed, and underpaid – making air travel less safe for everyone. And what is @SecDuffy doing? Filming a reality TV show. The incompetence of this administration would be laughable if people’s safety and lives”.
Brittany Pettersen has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Ed Perlmutter as representative for Colorado’s 7th district. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019 and served in the Colorado Senate from 2019 to 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
