U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress and has served in federal office since 2023, marked the anniversary of a key family policy while also criticizing former President Donald Trump’s recent actions in a series of posts on February 5, 2026.

In her first post commemorating the Family and Medical Leave Act, Pettersen stated: “Today marks the 33rd anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act. While this was a historic first step, there’s so much more we need to do. Moms shouldn’t have to choose between their job and recovering from giving birth and taking care of their newborn baby, or taking care” (posted at 17:23 UTC).

Later that day, Pettersen accused former President Trump of self-enrichment and compromising national security. She wrote: “Trump is enriching himself & his family at the cost of the American people — and now our national security.

He’s selling us out to a foreign country that’s donated MILLIONS to his family’s crypto business.

It’s absolutely disgusting.” (posted at 19:15 UTC).

In another post regarding immigration policy funding, she referenced her legislative actions: “I voted against Trump’s $75B ICE slush fund in his Big Ugly Bill & now I’m backing the DRAIN ICE Act to claw it back.

Trump ripped health care and food assistance from millions of Americans while dedicating billions of dollars to an agency that has brought chaos across the” (posted at 21:25 UTC).

Pettersen’s remarks come as she continues her tenure representing Colorado’s 7th District after succeeding Ed Perlmutter in 2023. Before serving in Congress, she held positions in both chambers of Colorado’s legislature from 2013 through early 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
