U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on December 17, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump and his recent actions regarding Colorado state officials and national institutions.
In her first post of the day, Pettersen wrote: “Trump is once again breaking the law for political retribution because @GovofCO refuses to release Tina Peters, his fellow convicted felon. Oh, and he’s also accusing our governor of being part of the Venezuelan gang now. You truly can’t make this shit up. He is withholding $109 https://t.co/ScGdR1lwur” (December 17, 2025).
Later that day, she commented on remarks attributed to the sitting president: “Another insane rant by @POTUS with very real consequences. No, we should absolutely not being going to war with Venezuela. https://t.co/yhhQzdiMHR” (December 17, 2025).
In a subsequent tweet that evening, Pettersen addressed additional actions by Trump: “Trump is continuing on his rampage of political retribution by dismantling NCAR. Families are already struggling under his trade war, but now he’s taking away jobs from people who are conducting research on the impacts of climate change, weather forecasting, and data collecting https://t.co/ppzQehuapP” (December 17, 2025).
Brittany Pettersen has served in the U.S. Congress since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023 as representative for Colorado’s 7th District; prior to her congressional tenure she was a member of both chambers of Colorado’s legislature between 2013 and 2023.
She was born in Colorado in 1981 and resides in Lakewood.
