U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has posted a series of tweets critical of former President Donald Trump’s recent policy actions and statements. In her posts on July 15 and July 16, Pettersen addressed issues ranging from healthcare legislation to trade policy and the fentanyl crisis.

On July 15, Pettersen wrote, “When it comes to the Big Bad Bill, Trump is doing what he does best: lying. Trump is a con artist but he’s not going to be able to con his way out of the suffering and pain that is going to hit families. This is going to be catastrophic for patients, hospitals, and providers in https://t.co/ITQMhbi8NO”.

Later that day, she continued her criticism of Trump’s economic policies with another tweet: “Remember when Trump promised ’90 deals in 90 days?’ Also his promise to lower costs on Day One? His reckless trade war with our allies is hurting our standing in the world and hardworking people here at home. I joined my Democratic colleagues in supporting a lawsuit that would”.

On July 16, Pettersen turned her attention to the opioid epidemic, stating: “Trump has never cared about the fentanyl crisis & he’s proving it every day by illegally withholding the federal funding our communities rely on to save the lives of people who are struggling with addiction. It’s devastating to think about the lives that will be lost & people https://t.co/pjWTyYPnM3”.

Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. Before her election to Congress, she served in both chambers of Colorado’s legislature—from 2013 to 2019 in the House of Representatives and from 2019 until her congressional election in the Senate. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
