U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing federal worker protections and the anniversary of the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel.
On October 6, 2025, Pettersen wrote, “Federal employees shouldn’t be used as political pawns. But that’s exactly what Trump is doing – threatening to force them to work without their pay or fire them altogether. A wildland firefighter in my district reached out to my office, terrified about what could happen in a”.
The following day, October 7, 2025, she commented on the anniversary of the 2023 attack on Israel: “Two years ago today, Hamas launched a brutal and unprovoked attack on Israel that killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages – including 12 Americans. In order to finally end the suffering and bring lasting peace and security for both the Israelis and the Palestinians, the”.
Later that same day, Pettersen reiterated her criticism of former President Donald Trump’s approach to federal workers: “Trump and @WHOMB continue to use our federal workers as a political pawn by threatening mass firings and now are once again ignoring the law by denying hundreds of thousands of furloughed federal workers backpay. Truly horrific. Democrats aren’t going to sit back while Trump”.
Brittany Pettersen has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Ed Perlmutter as representative for Colorado’s 7th district. She previously held positions in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature from 2013 through early 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981, Pettersen resides in Lakewood and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
