U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national fiscal policy, military service nominations, and energy assistance programs.

On May 1, 2026, Pettersen criticized former President Donald Trump’s fiscal policies in a tweet: “Trump claims to care about reducing the national debt, but his Big Ugly Bill did the opposite — ripping away health care and food from families while adding a historic $3 trillion to our deficit. And for what? Tax breaks for billionaires, all while working people are left to pay”.

Later that same day, she highlighted her role in nominating students to U.S. Service Academies: “Serving your country is one of the greatest sacrifices we can make & one of my highest honors is nominating the next generation of leaders to attend our U.S. Service Academies. The application for CO-07 students is now open! Army, Navy, Air Force, Merchant Marine, and Coast”.

On May 2, 2026, Pettersen addressed concerns about rising energy costs and federal support programs: “Families are already paying more for energy at a time when many are already struggling to make ends meet because of Trump’s illegal war. Now he’s trying to eliminate LIHEAP— a program that helps nearly 6 million households afford heating and cooling. As weather gets more extreme”.

Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature between 2013 and 2023 and holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Born in Colorado in 1981, Pettersen currently resides in Lakewood.
