U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has used her social media platform to voice criticism of recent actions by former President Donald Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson. In a series of posts on July 22 and 23, Pettersen addressed issues ranging from immigration policy to legislative transparency and credit reporting regulations.

On July 22, Pettersen commented on Trump’s approach to immigration-related nonprofits, stating: “Trump is not only going after immigrants themselves but now he’s targeting the nonprofits and NGOs that help support them when they are in need. Disgraceful. Unlawful. Un-American.”

Later that day, she criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson’s decision to adjourn the House early, linking it to the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein: “Speaker Johnson is adjourning the House early to protect Trump from the Epstein files. The victims deserve justice and the American people deserve answers. That’s why I’m backing a bill to expose the truth and hold abusers accountable. @POTUS, what are you so scared of?”

On July 23, Pettersen addressed changes in federal policy regarding medical debt and credit scores: “Important Update Trump reversed the Biden-era rule to ensure medical debt didn’t impact credit scores, so it didn’t limit your ability to buy a home, get a job, or build a future. People are already underwater with high costs and rising inflation from his tariffs. He’s also”

Pettersen has served as Colorado’s 7th District representative since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of both the Colorado House of Representatives (2013-2019) and Colorado Senate (2019-2023). Born in Colorado in 1981, Pettersen resides in Lakewood and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
