U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has used her social media platform to voice criticism of former President Donald Trump’s economic and healthcare policies in a series of recent posts.

On July 31, 2025, Pettersen addressed the impact of new tariffs proposed by Trump, stating, “Trump’s tariffs aren’t deals, they are taxes on working families. With his plans to institute these disastrous tariffs tomorrow we’ll be seeing a 24% hike on everyday goods, which will mean higher prices at checkout and more strain on small businesses and individuals! This trade”.

Continuing her critique on August 1, 2025, she commented on changes to women’s healthcare access: “Like so many women, I relied on Planned Parenthood for care when I was uninsured. Now, Trump and the Republicans are ripping that lifeline away from millions of women, including in Colorado.

A Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains in Arvada this week, I spoke with providers”.

Later that day, Pettersen posted about broader economic concerns related to Trump’s actions: “More economic chaos from Donald Trump today.

Trump continues to bring instability and skyrocketing costs for all of us after promising to lower costs on day one. Large corporations are in a better position to weather this storm but far too many small businesses will shutter.”

Brittany Pettersen has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously held positions in both the Colorado House of Representatives (2013-2019) and the Colorado Senate (2019-2023). Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
