U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing several pressing issues, including wildfire response, federal investigations, and antisemitic attacks.
On January 11, 2026, Pettersen commented on the impact of wildfires in Colorado and criticized the planned reduction of FEMA’s workforce under Secretary Noem. She stated: “Families across Colorado are facing more severe wildfires year after year, and now @sec_noem is planning to slash FEMA’s workforce by nearly half — even as her department has already failed to deploy timely aid to communities hit by flooding. This administration’s incompetence”.
The following day, January 12, 2026, Pettersen addressed actions taken by former President Donald Trump regarding the Department of Justice and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. She wrote: “Trump has made it clear from day one – he wants unchecked power and will go after anyone who stands in his way. Now, Trump’s deploying the DOJ to pursue a criminal investigation for bogus allegations against Fed Chair Powell. I stand with Jerome Powell. I stand with an”.
Later that same day, Pettersen expressed concern over rising antisemitic incidents. She said: “My hearts breaks for the Jewish community who have been targeted yet again. The surge in antisemitic attacks demands total condemnation from everyone, including the rhetoric that fuels these hateful acts. My thoughts are with the congregation and everyone affected by the arson”.
Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before joining Congress, she was a member of both the Colorado House of Representatives (2013-2019) and the Colorado Senate (2019-2023). Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
